WPC - CLUB HISTORY:
The Willamette Racing Pigeon Club was founded in 1952 by M.L. Stafford (Leonaro), Rex Strdtton, Mel Andrews, Al Coburn, Joe LeGenore and Louise Druet.
The first race was flown from the North (since it was easier for members to train.) The race stations where Olympia, Durma, etc. The wives were the haulers and they took turns taken the birds up North to release them on race day.
The Willamette Racing Pigeon Club consists of six lofts at the present time. The lofts are in Coburg, Junction City, Elmira, Eugene and Sutherlin Oregon. Our club house is located in Elmira, Oregon. Our pigeons fly races from the east as far as American Falls Idaho. Our members get together the first Sunday of designated months. Some members start raising young birds in January to fly in August. Our older birds are retrained starting end of February and beginning of March to fly races in April.
.
Thanks to all the club members who participated this year in the race season and helping with the shipping and hauling of birds. It has been greatly appreciated.
